Helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera

The story

Photography started for me with family, creating images of the people I loved most. An honours diploma from VanArts and a few photographic awards later, I've spent over 10 years photographing people and their stories: business owners and executives, full company teams, preschool classes, growing families, and graduating students. The studio began in 2016 as Volkan Caglar Photography and is now Volkan Photography Inc. Same photographer, same approach.

Whatever the session, my job is the same: create an experience that feels calm, clear, and human. Clients often tell me the thing they remember is how comfortable the process felt. That's not an accident; it's the whole point. Nobody relaxes under vague instructions, so I guide everything: posture, angles, hands, expression. You never have to wonder what to do.

Why headshots

Headshots are where guidance matters most. A headshot is often the first impression a client, employer, or patient gets of you, and most people walk in convinced they're not photogenic. Watching that same person leave with an image they're proud to use is the best part of this job. That's why headshots, individual and corporate teams alike, are now the core of my work.

Why preschools

As a father of two, I know exactly how fast childhood moves. Photographing around 1,500 preschool and daycare children a year keeps me connected to that, and it's taught me patience no studio can. Shy kids, wild kids, kids who need extra time: everyone gets photographed the way that works for them.
